The Bridgeport Fire Department has been actively engaged in training over the past few months (March – May 2026). As warmer weather arrives, residents may notice our crews at the stations or at designated locations throughout the Borough as we continue refining essential skills. Recent training initiatives have included Rapid Intervention Team (RIT) exercises, during which firefighters navigate obstacles to locate and rescue simulated victims under realistic emergency conditions. We also completed our annual HazMat refresher, incorporating hands on exercises to reinforce safe and effective hazardous materials response. In addition, our team has utilized the Montgomery County Fire Academy’s drill tower for hose advancement and other critical operations, along with supplemental training sessions at various sites around town. With the improved weather, we have also launched our boats on the Schuylkill River to conduct water rescue training. The Bridgeport Fire Department extends our appreciation to Mayor Tony Heyl for providing the department with a pizza night, which was greatly enjoyed by the crew.
